The fire station was an important building, serving an essential function in village life. This timber-framed and weather-boarded structure was used for storing the fire engine as well as the uniforms and all the equipment needed by firefighters, such as pick-axes and water buckets. The tower is c. 9 m high. In it the hose was hung up to dry.
